Problem Note 19430: SAS® Web Report Studio converts numeric data to character data when exporting to Microsoft Excel
Numeric data that has been exported to Microsoft Excel from SAS Web
Report Studio will be converted to text. This makes the data invalid for
computations when opened in Microsoft Excel. This is most likely to
occur if the data was exported as HTML.
To circumvent the problem, do one of the following:
- Export the data as a tab-delimited text file.
- Once the data has been imported into Microsoft Excel, the data can
be converted to a number. On the worksheet, select any single cell
or range of adjacent cells that has an arrow indicator in the
upper left corner. This error indicator is diamond shaped with
an exclamation mark in the middle. Select "Convert to Number".
