Usage Note 18989: "WARNING: The predicted moment matrix has ## constant elements.."
Sometimes PROC CALIS will show the message:
WARNING: The predicted moment matrix has ## constant
elements whose values differ from those of the observed
moment matrix.
This means that the model you specified implies some constant values in
the predicted covariance matrix, and those values differ from the values
in the DATA= data set. For information on the option that displays
these results, see:
SAS/STAT User's Guide
The CALIS Procedure
Syntax
PROC CALIS Statement
PREDET | PRE
This does not mean a problem exists. Whether or not this is a
statistical problem or an intended result is a decision made by the
researcher based on a combined knowledge of the subject matter and of
structural equation models. PROC CALIS simply tells you that it is
happening and continues with the analysis. For more information on the
implied covariance matrix, see texts such as:
"Structural Equations With Latent Variables" by Kenneth A. Bollen,
1989 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
