Problem Note 18937: Customized Microsoft Excel chart templates cannot be saved after the SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office is installed
When you save customized or user-defined chart template in Microsoft
Excel, the following error occurs:
Microsoft Excel cannot save the user defined chart because the
chart gallery is currently in use or does not exist. Click Ok and
then change the gallery filename or location before you save.
The problem occurs because of a conflict between Microsoft Excel and the
SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, which has a lock on the custom chart
location.
The only circumvention is to disable the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office as follows:
- Open Microsoft Excel and select Tools ► Customize.
- Select the Commands tab.
- In the Categories: area, select Tools. In the Commands: area, drag and drop COM Add-ins to the menu bar along the top.
- Close the dialog box.
- Select the COM Add-ins menu.
- Deselect SAS and click OK.
The SAS menu will appear the next time you start Microsoft
Excel.
