Usage Note 18079: How to display a specific HTML help topic in the tripane HTML Viewer for
SAS/AF Frame entries
This SAS Note documents an update to the paper "Adding Help and Other
User Assistance to SAS/AF® Applications" by Marty Tomasi, published in
the Proceedings of the Twenty Fourth Annual SAS Users Group
International Conference. You can view this paper via the following URL:
http://www2.sas.com/proceedings/sugi24/AppDevel/p19-24.pdf
On page 6 of this paper, the author states the following:
"Certain requirements exist when you create an HTML Help file for a
SAS/AF application. First, all HTML files that are called by the
application must exist in a directory that is named the same as the
compiled HTML Help (.chm) file and is a subdirectory of the path
containing the project (.hhp) file."
This text is followed by an example which lists the following files that
belong to an HTML Help-based help system for an application that exists
in the file myapp.chm:
myapp.hhp
myapp.hhc
myapp.hhk
myappmain.htm
myappedit.htm
myappsales_1.htm
myappsignon.htm
By following these directions, the specified help topic will display in
an Internet Explorer browser.
If you instead wish to display a specific topic in the tripane HTML
Viewer window, you need to modify the directions slightly by naming the
subdirectory MYAPP to MYAPP.HLP. After making this change, the example
would then be as follows:
myapp.hhp
myapp.hhc
myapp.hhk
myapp.hlpmain.htm
myapp.hlpedit.htm
myapp.hlpsales_1.htm
myapp.hlpsignon.htm
To avoid the use of .UDX files, the final requirement is to use one
of the following for the helploc:// value:
helploc://myapp.hlp/edit.htm
helploc://myapp.chm/edit.htm
The difference in the above example is the extension used for the
subdirectory. Both .hlp and .chm work even though the subdirectory is
actually named .hlp.
