Problem Note 17852: External table objects may get inadvertently deleted from metadata when
importing or exporting metadata multiple times
When an ExternalTable is being deployed to a target server (and its
Deploy_Action flag is set to "Update"), the ExternalTable is deleted
without any error messages.
The reason is because this top level object, ExternalTable, has an
OwningFile association. This association is a 1 to 1 relationship.
When the ExternalTable is being updated, the server first deletes the
OwningFile, and then also deletes the ExternalTable because it is a
required association.
This problem can only arise when using SAS Data Integration Studio 3.4
in conjunction with a Server running 9.1.3 Service Pack 4.
