Problem Note 16222: Transaction fails "because it attempts to implicitly
update an associated object in repository XXXX and this repository does
not have a dependency defined in the repository identified in the XML"
If you are using Change Management within SAS® ETL Studio you may receive
a MDEXCEPTION error with text similar to the following:
"This transaction failed because it attempts to implicitly update/delete
an associated object in repository XXXXXXXX and this repository does not
have a dependency defined in the repository identified in the XML
request. We suggest you also notify your metadata administrator that a
dependency no longer exists between the repositories."
When logged into a Foundation or Custom repository, this error can occur
when attempting to Save or Delete an existing ETL Job.
When logged into a Project repository, this error can occur when
attempting to Check Out or Check In an existing ETL Job.
This problem gets introduced into the metadata when a Job is Checked
In from a Project repository, and the Job contains associated objects
that exceed 1000 characters (e.g. User-written transformation code
stored in metadata, Descriptions, Where Clauses, Expressions).
Once the problem has been introduced, the effected Job can no longer be
Saved, Checked In, or Deleted without receiving a variation on the
error listed above.
