Usage Note 15185: "Automation error" when opening SAS data set file
When you right-click on a SAS data set and from the menu select "Open
with SAS 9.1" or double-click on a SAS data set, a SAS message box
appears that indicates "SAS System is processing requests", and SAS does
not open. Then the following error message appears:
Automation error.
To resolve this issue, follow these instructions to reinstall the
Enhanced Editor:
1. Close SAS.
2. Insert the SAS Shared Components CD in the CD-ROM drive.
3. Drill to bundles\eeditor\
4. Double-click on setup.exe
If you do not have access to the SAS Release 8.2 (TS2M0) CD's, then you
can download the Enhanced Editor install files from our Web site:
1. Download the zip file from
http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/pc/ee30.zip
2. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer and go to the folder
containing the zip file.
3. Unzip the files into a new empty directory.
4. Go to the new directory and click on setup.exe to start the
install.
5. Follow screen instructions.
