Problem Note 15525: Setting a diagnostic trap might cause an abend for XMS servers in SAS/SHARE® or SAS/CONNECT® software in the z/OS operating environment
In the z/OS environment, traps such as IGVNOUSERKEYCSA that use TRAP(IGVNOUSERKEYCSA) for diagnosis for the GETMAIN or STORAGE macros might cause an abend for XMS servers in SAS/SHARE software or in SAS/CONNECT software (using the MP CONNECT feature).
The IGVNOUSERKEYCSA trap will fail to execute GETMAIN CSA in Key 8 (user key) memory, and the system will issue a B78-5C abend.
In the 1.8 and 1.9 z/OS environments, the parameter VSM ALLOWUSERKEYCSA(YES | NO) is the general external interface documented by IBM to control the Key 8 (user key) memory in the Common System Area (CSA).
In z/OS 1.8, the default value for VSM ALLOWUSERKEYCSA is YES, so with the default setting, SAS continues to run as before.
However, in z/OS 1.9, the default value is NO. If the parameter is set to NO you will need to apply the appropriate hot fix.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you update your SAS 9.1.3 installation to SP3 or SP4, or apply the SAS 8.2 hotfix, you must copy the updated SASVXMS0 module to replace the previous copy of the module that you created as described on page 183 of
Configuration Guide for SAS®9.1.3 Foundation for z/OS®.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
