Problem Note 15467: Unable to authenticate user on AIX after installing SAS 9.1.3 Service
Pack 2
With the installation of SAS 9.1.3 Service Pack 2, user accounts may
fail to authenticate when attempting to login through any SAS interface
(ie. SAS Management Console, Enterprise Guide, etc.). This may be true
even if the account was able to authenticate prior to the installation
of Service Pack 2.
AIX supports the ability to mark an account as "not able to login"
through the AIX System Management Interface Tool (SMIT). Beginning in
SAS 9.1.3 Service Pack 2, the support to check if an account has been
"flagged" or marked as "not able to login" has been enabled.
If the account has been flagged, the SMIT (also referred to as SMITTY)
output would look like the following:
EXPIRATION date (MMDDhhmmyy) [0]
Is this user ACCOUNT LOCKED? false +
User can LOGIN? false +
User can LOGIN REMOTELY(rsh,tn,rlogin)? false + Allowed LOGIN TIMES[]
If the statement "User can LOGIN? " is set to false, then the user
accounts will fail to authenticate. To correct the problem, change the
option from false to true.
In this example, "User can LOGIN REMOTELY" is also set to false, this
will not cause the account to fail to authenticate. Also, if the user
has attempted multiple unsuccessful logins, verify that the account has
not been locked.
