The Java option -XX:-UseTLAB, recommended for servlet containers and application servers on other systems, is not viable for a WebLogic server on HP Itanium. You should not specify this option on invocation of your WebLogic server on HP Itanium.

When specified on invocation of a WebLogic managed server, this option causes the server to terminate abnormally during initialization with messages similar to those shown on the Output tab appearing in the server log.

The abnormal termination been corrected by Hewlett-Packard as of JDK 1.4.2.08. However, Hewlett-Packard still recommends that the option -XX:-UseTLAB be omitted for better performance and memory management.
