Problem Note 15051: Credential prompt during batch processing may occur in SAS Enterprise
Guide
Executing a SAS Enterprise Guide project in batch might continue to
prompt for SAS System server credentials even though Tools => Security
=> Credentials Persistence is set to 'Persist for user'. The option is
not intended to persist SAS System server credentials.
To work around the problem of prompting during the execution of a
scheduled project, follow one of the set of steps outlined below.
If SAS Enterprise Guide is using a SAS Enterprise Guide repository, then
the only circumvention at this time is to define the SAS Server to not
require credentials. This might not be acceptable for some
installations.
1. Close any SAS Enterprise Guide sessions.
2. Go to a machine that has the SAS Enterprise Guide Administrator
installed.
3. Start => Programs => SAS => Enterprise Guide Administrator.
4. Right-Click on the remote SAS server and choose Properties.
5. From the User tab, select
'Remember user and password - prompt only as needed'.
6. Close Enterprise Guide Administrator.
7. After making these changes, you should no longer be prompted when
accessing the SAS server from SAS Enterprise Guide during an
interactive session or during execution of a scheduled project.
If SAS Enterprise Guide is using a SAS Metadata Repository, then
1. Install SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1.
2. As Administrator, open SAS Management Console.
3. Select the User Manager plug-in.
4. It shows a list of profiles.
5. Right-click under the Name/Descriptin panel area and choose New.
6. Select New User.
7. Under the General tab, enter the user name that will be scheduling
projects.
8. Under the Logins tab, click the New button.
9. Enter your domain and id; for example: Domain\User_ID.
10. Leave password blank and authenticate as default. Click OK.
11. Close SAS Management Console and open the SAS Enterprise Guide
project that will be scheduled.
12. Access the server by selecting File => Open Data from SAS Server.
13. You will likely get an error on the first attempt, but the
second time should prompt you for your Domain\User_ID and
password.
14. After the changes, you should no longer be prompted when
accessing the SAS server from SAS Enterprise Guide during an
interactive session or during execution of a scheduled project.
