Problem Note 14501: Strange characters or icons may appear in SAS/INSIGHT windows
Strange characters or icons may appear in SAS/INSIGHT windows. This problem occurs because of a problem with the interaction of the display driver and the SAS font, which is not a
TrueType font. The default font for SAS/INSIGHT windows is the same as the font that is set for the SAS Log window, so you should be able to switch to another default font using one of the following methods:
1. With the SAS Log window in focus, choose Tools => Options => Fonts. Change to a larger size, or choose a TrueType font, such as Courier New or SAS Monospace. Click OK, then in the command box, enter WSAVE. Subsequent sessions of SAS and SAS/INSIGHT should use this font by default.
2. When invoking SAS, include the -FONT option to set the default Display Manager font, such as:
sas -dms -font "SAS Monospace" 9;
