Problem Note 14229: Enterprise Guide hangs when attempting to query EXCEL file containing
national characters
Attempts to create a query of an xls extension file that contains
national characters will cause Enterprise Guide to hang with a very high
CPU usage. After several minutes, Enterprise Guide will either crash or
produce a message indicating a query can not be created for the EXCEL
spreadsheet. If you were to open this same file as a SAS data set, you
will experience this problem.
The problem occurs when the option ENCODING is set to WLATIN2 in the
SASv9.cfg file. There is not a problem if the ENCODING option is instead
set to WLATIN1.
