Problem Note 12641: Performance issues encountered when a large number of tasks are listed
in ISMTASKSCHED table
When there are a large number of tasks present in the ISMTaskSched
table, the performance of both the SAS Single-Threaded and particularly
the SAS Multi-Threaded Scheduler are severely impacted. The large
number of tasks is commonly seen as a result of many long-term recurring
tasks being held in the ISMTASKSCHED table.
Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
The fix provides the option to use a new method of creating recurring
communications, which results in a dramatic reduction in the number of
tasks in the table. A new CONFIG entry is provided:
CommSchedRealRecur
This should be set to YES in order to use the new method of generating
recurring communications. The default setting is NO.
Note that the status of this CONFIG setting at the time of generating
the tasks, (that is, updating the ISMTASKSCHED table) determines the
methodology subsequently used for running the tasks by the SAS
Multi-Threaded Scheduler or SAS Single-Threaded Scheduler.
SAS® Campaign Management, Administrator Module, Single-Threaded Scheduler
and Multi-Threaded Scheduler modules have all been modified to
incorporate these new recurring communications.
