Usage Note 11135: How do you determine whether you need to apply a double-byte character
set (DBCS) hotfix?
If you applied a hotfix correctly per http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/
download/hotfix/faq.html and have made sure that you have followed
steps 1-5 of SAS Note #011134 , you might need to make sure whether
your version of SAS is Single-Byte Character Set (SBCS) or a
Double-Byte Character Set (DBCS). If you have a DBCS machine,
then you need to apply the DBCS hotfix. To determine whether
you have a DBCS machine, follow these instructions:
1. Open Notepad.
2. Select File>Open and drill down to c:\program files\sas
institute\sas\v8 for SAS Version 8 and c:\program files\sas\
sas system\9.1\nls\en for SAS 9.1.
3. Select sasv8.cfg or sasv9.cfg.
4. Search for the -PATH option.
If the first line is "!sasext0\dbcs\sasexe", then you need to
apply the DBCS hotfix instead of the SBCS hotfix to the
dbcs\sasexe location.
Note that DBCS is a special installation of SAS that supports the
display and usage of non-English character sets.
