Problem Note 11540: ASYCOV Matrix May Be Computed Incorrectly When Scoring Does Not Stop
The results of the ASYCOV option will be incorrect if the SCORING=
option is used and PROC MIXED converges before scoring has stopped.
This problem only occurs in models that have the following conditions:
a RANDOM statement and no REPEATED statement
a diagonal G matrix
profiled variance (NOPROFILE option not in effect)
the RANDOM statement has no SUBJECT= option
the NOBOUND option is not present on PROC MIXED statement
This problem will also affect results that rely on the calculations used
in ASYCOV. This includes output from the COVTEST, DDFM=SATTERTH,
DDFM=KR, and INFLUENCE options.
This problem can also effect the standard errors of the fixed effects
and the type-3 F-tests if the PROC MIXED code does not contain the MMEQ,
MMEQSOL, DDFM=KR, DDFM=SATTERTH, or INFLUENCE options. If any of these
options are used in the code, then the standard errors of the fixed
effects and the type-3 F-tests are correct.
To circumvent the problem, either include the NOPROFILE option on the
PROC MIXED statement, include the NOBOUND option on the PROC MIXED
statement, or rewrite the RANDOM statement to include a SUBJECT= option.
