Usage Note 11134: How do I ensure that I have applied a hot fix correctly?
To ensure that a hot fix is applied correctly, follow these
instructions:
1. Close SAS.
2. Make sure that you have administrative rights on the machine
where you are applying the hotfix.
3. Run the hot fix by selecting Open in the File Download dialog box.
Note: If you select Save instead of Open, make sure that you later
run the hot fix by double-clicking on it.
4. When the "InstallShield Wizard: Verify SAS System Directory
Location" dialog box appears, make sure that you point to the
V8 directory. The default is c:\program files\sas institute\sas\v8.
Note: If you do not accept the default location, point to the
location of the sas.exe on your machine.
5. Make sure that you apply the correct hot fix and that you applied it
correctly. You can verify that you have the correct hot fix and
location by searching on your machine where you applied the hotfix
for the .aud file, for example 82BB12.aud. You can also read the
hot fix .txt file (for example, 82BB12.txt) that lists the files
replaced by the hotfix. You can search for those files and ensure
that you have copies of the originals that now have extensions of
.000.
For instructions on determining if you have should apply a
double-byte character set (DBCS) hotfix instead of a single-byte
character set hotfix, see SAS Note #011135 . Note that DBCS is a
special installation of SAS that supports the display and usage of
non-English character sets.
