Usage Note 10546: RankTable configuration option is no longer recommended for Campaign
Management users running with Teradata
The SAS Campaign Management component's RankTable configuration option
enables an alternate table access method when exporting data from
multiple tables, and was implemented to improve performance.
However, beginning with Campaign Management 7.0, the use of the
RankTable option with Teradata databases is no longer recommended. New
functionality has been added to the Campaign Management application that
may cause incompatibilities with this configuration option. In
particular, RankTable is not suitable (or viable) when using conditional
field or constraints, calculated columns, and volatile tables. In
particular, volatile tables replace views to provide improved
performance by placing fewer requirements on the system catalog used by
Teradata. This approach typically performs better than the method
invoked by the RankTable option.
Please note, however, that you are not prevented from using the volatile
table functionality when the RankTable option is also in use. You
should observe extreme caution when combining the use of both these
settings as you may experience unpredictable results.
