Conference Chair Message

On behalf of the SAS Global Users Group, I invite you to SAS Global Forum 2014 in Washington, DC, for the best in learning, networking and knowledge sharing. My passion with SAS began more than 30 years ago when I began using SAS for statistical consulting. During the past 30-plus years, I have taught and used SAS in a broad range of industries, including banking, marketing, pharmaceutical, and education. In addition to my hands-on experience, my greatest learning opportunities have always been through SAS users groups. They have given me the chance to share – and gain – knowledge and broaden my network of colleagues and friends.

So when we set out to build the conference, we wanted to ensure that the focus and energy were based on the interests of the SAS community. We also wanted to provide conference materials that live on after SAS Global Forum ends. Throughout the past year, we have sought your input on the content, presentation formats and events that you value most. After all, this is your conference – designed by SAS users, for SAS users.

That's why everyone at SAS Global Forum – regardless of SAS experience – has the power to choose a custom conference pathway. No one-size-fits-all schedules or agendas here. Instead, it's a focus on individualized, customized learning and training. Plus, whether it's becoming a volunteer, providing ideas and feedback or signing on as a presenter, we are offering more chances than ever for the SAS community to get involved.

For those who are considering attending SAS Global Forum for the first time – you won't regret it. No matter how long you've been using SAS or why you use it, this is the best venue to discover new SAS skills and knowledge. And, for those who have been to a conference before, we're certain you'll be pleased with the enhancements we've made.

Gathering SAS community input and planning conference content and events takes a lot of time and energy! I would like to thank the dedicated conference planning team (volunteers and SAS staff) who work tirelessly for over a year to put it all together. I am sure I speak for them all in welcoming you to SAS Global Forum 2014.
