Conference Chair Message:
On behalf of SAS® Global Forum 2013, please join us this April in San Francisco for the world’s greatest event for SAS practitioners. If you’ve been to SAS Global Forum before, you know it’s not to be missed. For those who are considering joining us for the first time, take the plunge – you won’t regret it.
As with previous conferences, there will be tons of workshops, demos and presentations. Not to mention as many opportunities to network as there are to unwind. But I don’t need to get into all the details here – you can find everything you need about the conference on this website.
I do want to mention, however, that for the first year ever, SAS Global Forum has a theme: Strength in Numbers. It’s a nod to the huge amounts of complex data that SAS software tackles, as well as the many people who make up the SAS community and the countless innovative ways that they apply SAS.
Finally, on a personal note, I couldn’t be more excited and honored to be conference chair. For one, I love San Francisco. The Golden Gate Bridge, Embarcadero Center, those lobster bisque bread bowls in Fisherman’s Wharf – it’s all part of one of the most beautiful, unique and welcoming cities on the planet.
But the best part of being conference chair is joining all my colleagues – those I know and those I’ve yet to meet – as we explore new, creative directions to take SAS software and technologies. Well, that and I’ve been promised a free t-shirt and coffee mug.
Still, perks of the job aside, I’m quickly realizing that being a conference chair is not easy – it requires the support of dedicated section chairs and volunteers who work tirelessly to put it all together. They have my deepest appreciation. If you have the time, please consider volunteering some of your time for this year’s event.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you in San Francisco for SAS Global Forum 2013!
