SAS/GRAPH Software, Release 8.2
What's New Highlights
SAS/GRAPH software provides information and presentation graphics capabilities to produce a wide
variety of business charts, plots, and maps in many colors and patterns.
SAS/GRAPH software, Release 8.2 increases your control and presentation options for charts and graphs
that are generated from powerful SAS analytical tools. Here are the highlights.
- Native support for RTF (Rich Text Format) files from the SAS Output Delivery System (ODS) is one of the
biggest enhancements to SAS/GRAPH software. Now, generating a SAS table and a graph on the same page within
your Microsoft document is very simple -- just add another option to ODS. You can then modify the appearance
of your graphs from within the Microsoft document. There is also production support for ODS PDF, which
enables you to generate a PDF file from your graph.
- Customer requested options have been added to several traditional SAS/GRAPH software procedures (GCHART,
GCONTOUR, and GMAP). In addition, the newly introduced radar chart procedure (much requested by Japanese
customer sites) has added new style options. With these charts, the relative frequencies of data measures are
displayed as statistics along spokes radiating from the center of the chart. Stacking multiple charts around
a center point reveals the interrelationships among data measures and facilitates data comparisons. For
example, radar charts are useful for comparing the same measures across different test cases or evaluating
the results of market research studies. In Japan, they are widely used in the automotive industry.
- Beginning in Version 8, SAS/GRAPH software provides new Web-enabled data visualization capabilities, which
have been enhanced with Release 8.2. The SAS/GRAPH Control for ActiveX enables you to embed interactive
graphs in Web pages and OLE documents (in Microsoft Office products). When the graph is displayed, you can point-and-click to rotate,
change, or further investigate the graph. The ActiveX Control interface has been enhanced based on usability
studies.
- The SAS/GRAPH Applets for Java enable you to embed interactive graphics in a Web page. When you open the Web
page in a browser, you can interactively change numerous features of the graph, including its use of colors,
legends, and axes. Numerous enhancements were made in Release 8.2 to improve the appearance of pie charts,
bar charts, and plot charts.
