Introduction

This chapter summarizes the major changes and enhancements to SAS/STAT software in Versions 7 and 8. All of these changes and enhancements are incorporated into the individual chapters of the SAS/STAT User's Guide and are described in greater detail there.

In Version 7 of SAS/STAT software, the PLS, KRIGE2D, and VARIOGRAM procedures became production. These procedures were experimental in Release 6.12. [IMAGE] In Version 8, the SURVEYSELECT, SURVEYMEANS, SURVEYREG, KDE, LOWESS, TPSPLINE, and NLMIXED procedures become production. These procedures were experimental in Version 7.
