Usage Note 28069: All-resident programs may be linked RMODE(SPLIT)
All-resident programs used to be required to be linked with RMODE(24).
If all-resident applications were linked with RMODE(ANY) then IEW
messages such as IEW2646W or IEW2635I would result. That restriction
has been lifted to the extent that RMODE=SPLIT can be specified. As
stated in our 7.50 Change and Enhancements manual:
Under an extended architecture system, all-resident programs may
not be linked with RMODE(ANY). However, they make be be linked
RMODE(SPLIT), in which case all of the load module except for
certain portions of the run-time library can be loaded above the
16-megabyte line. Note that RMODE(SPLIT) is suitable only for
AMODE(31) applications.
When using RMODE(SPLIT) SYSLMOD must point to PDSE or a z/OS UNIX
file, not a PDS file.
RMODE(SPLIT) may also be used with 7.00 applications.
