Import a Model

To import a model:

  1. Select File Organize Models.
  2. Click Import.

    The Import Model window opens.
  3. Specify the following:

    Source XML File

    specifies the file to be imported.

    Destination Model New

    Select New if you want the imported model to be a new model in the repository. Type the name of the new model.

    Destination Model Existing

    Select Existing if you want the imported model to either replace or add to an existing model.

    Specify Replace to delete the existing model and replace it with the model being imported.

    Because the existing model is deleted, the imported XML file must contain the complete specification of a model. BabyBank.xml is a sample XML import file.

    Specify AddOnly to retain the existing model and add to it the elements being imported, such as additional rules, rule association, and transaction tables.

    Because the existing model is not deleted, the imported XML file does not need to contain the complete specification of a model. It can contain only the elements being added.
  4. Cick OK.

    The model is imported.

    Note: Summary report and detail report definitions are imported along with the model, but not generated cubes.
