Global selection mode is the default selection mode. To switch to local selection mode, follow these steps:
To switch to Local Selection Mode
(If you have a need to switch to local selection mode using a data table, you must use the Edit menu technique.)
IML Studio will display the Selection Mode dialog box.
When you switch a view to local selection mode, all other views of the data will also switch to local selection mode. Initially, all the other views will be configured as selector views.
While operating in local selection mode, each plot displays an icon in the upper left-hand corner to provide a visual indication of the role the plot is performing. The icons are as follows:
The plot is a selector view.
The plot is an observer view in the union scheme.
The plot is an observer view in the intersection scheme.
You can change a view's role at any time.
To change a view's role in Local Selection Mode

IML Studio will display the Selection Mode dialog box.
You can change a selector view into an observer view, and vice versa. You can also change the scheme of an observer view from union to intersection, and vice versa.
If you change a selector view into an observer view, the view will immediately begin displaying the appropriate selection state. If you change an observer view into a selector view, the view will initially display the union of the selections made in the other selector views. To clear this selection and make a new one, click once in the Graph Area to deselect all observations in the view and then select the desired observations.
If you want to return to global selection mode, you may do so at any time.
