Automatic Window Positioning

IML Studio provides automatic window positioning to reduce the amount of manual window positioning you must perform. If an MDI window's Auto Position property is turned on, IML Studio will position the window automatically according to the Auto Position scheme for that type of window. Unlike the case for MDI window properties, each MDI window does not have its own Auto Position scheme. Rather, each type of MDI window has a global Auto Position scheme.

The Auto Position schemes are as follows:

Full size

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the entire inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Upper half

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the upper half of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Lower half

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the lower half of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Left half

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the left half of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Right half

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the right half of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Upper-left quarter

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the upper-left quarter of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Lower-left quarter

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the lower-left quarter of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Upper-right quarter

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the upper-right quarter of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

Lower-right quarter

The MDI window is positioned so it occupies the lower-right quarter of the inside area of the main IML Studio window.

To change the Auto Position schemes

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

   IML Studio will display the Options dialog box.

2. Click the Windows tab.
3. Modify the Auto Position schemes.
4. Click OK.

When you change the Auto Position schemes, IML Studio immediately repositions all the MDI windows whose Auto Position property is turned on. If you manually reposition or resize a window, IML Studio will automatically turn off the Auto Position property for that window.

To toggle the Auto Position property for a particular MDI window

On the MDI window's menu, click Auto Position.

To turn on the Auto Position property for all MDI windows

On the Window menu, click Arrange.
