Attaching and Detaching Windows

Each workspace has a set of MDI windows attached (logically connected) to it. The set of windows attached to a workspace always contains a program window and may also contain an error log window, data view windows, and output windows. Whereas there is always a one-to-one correspondence between a program window and a workspace and between an error log window and a workspace, data view and LISTING output document windows are different for the following reasons:

Note: There is always a one-to-one correspondence between an HTML output window and a workspace.

  2. On the Program menu, click Configure.

IML Studio will display the Configure Program dialog box.

  3. Click the Windows tab.
  4. Click Attach.

IML Studio will display the Attach LISTING Output Documents dialog box.

  5. In the LISTING Output Documents list, select the documents you want to attach to the workspace.

You can select multiple items either by holding down the CTRL key while you click the left mouse button or by holding down the SHIFT key while you press the UP or DOWN arrow keys.

  6. Click OK to close the Attach LISTING Output Documents dialog box.
  7. Click OK to close the Configure Program dialog box.

You can also detach LISTING output document windows from a workspace.

To detach a LISTING output document window from a workspace

  1. Activate the workspace from which you want to detach the window.
  2. On the Program menu, click Configure.

IML Studio will display the Configure Program dialog box.

  3. Click the Windows tab.

If the workspace from which you just detached the window is the last workspace to which the window was attached and the window's Auto Close property is turned on, IML Studio will attempt to close the window. If the window's content changed since the last time it was saved, IML Studio will ask you whether you want to save those changes. If you click Cancel, IML Studio will not close the window and will turn off the window's Auto Close property. The window will, however, be detached from all workspaces.
