DataFlux Data Management Studio 2.6: User Guide

Locale Guessing Node

You can add a Locale Guessing node to a data job to access information from the Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) and your data to guess the country (locale) to which your data applies. This step creates an additional field that contains the locale's code. For example, records that include city names such as Roma and Milano will lead the Locale Guessing node to populate ITITA in the locale field. Once you have added the node, you can double-click it to open its properties dialog. The properties dialog includes the following elements:

Name - Specifies a name for the node.

Notes - Enables you to open the Notes dialog. You use the dialog to enter optional details or any other relevant information for the input.

Output Field - Specifies the name of the field for placing the locale codes.

Field Name - Enables you to select the field in your existing data that Locale Guessing should use to guess locales. Items displayed in this list are dependent on your data source(s) and any steps preceding Address Verification in your data job.

Note Note: The field type needs to be address type information, a country name field, or a locale code field that has been previously populated by a Locale Guessing step.

Definition - Enables you to select the type of geographic information contained in the Field Name you selected above. Available guess definitions are: Locale Code, Country, and Address.

Preserve null values - When selected, specifies that null values in the data source are preserved.

Additional Outputs - Displays the Additional Outputs dialog. This dialog enables you to specify the fields that you can make available to the next node in your data job.

Default Locale - Enables you to select the locale within your Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) to used to perform the locale guess.

Note Note: To change the default locale, you must restart the application for the change to take effect.
