DataFlux Data Management Studio 2.6: User Guide

Change Case Node

You can add a node to a data job to make all alphabetical values in a field uppercase, lowercase, proper case, or custom case. Proper case means treating a field value as a proper name by capitalizing the first letter of each word, with the remaining characters in lowercase. Custom case refers to a case definition that specifies the Custom output type.

The properties dialog for this node includes the following elements:

Name - Specifies a name for the node in the context of a data job.

Notes - Enables you to open the Notes dialog. You use the dialog to enter optional details or any other relevant information for the input.

Locale - Specifies the locale within your Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) used to change case.

The Casing fields section of the dialog includes the following elements:

Available - Displays the fields that you can make available for the next step in your data job. Items displayed in this list are dependent on your data sources and any preceding steps in your data job.

Selected - Displays the fields that will be made available to the next node in your data job. Use the drop-down menu in the Type column to select from the following case output types: Upper, Lower, Proper and Custom. In the Definition column, any case definitions that specify the selected output type are available for selection. For example, if you select the Custom output type, any case definitions that specify that output can be selected in the Definition field.

Additional Outputs -Displays the Additional Outputs dialog. This dialog enables you to specify the fields that you can make available to the next node in your data job.

Preserve null values - When selected, specifies that null values in the data source are preserved.
