DataFlux Data Management Studio 2.5: User Guide

Link to a Reference Data Management Repository

Reference Data Manager is a separately-licensed DataFlux Web Studio module. It enables you to manage a central repository of reference information. Examples of reference information include a list of valid values for a Gender field, or a list of valid zip codes with their associated cities and states.

Data Management Studio includes two data job nodes that enable you to use Reference Data Management domains and domain items. In order to use the Domains node or the Domain Items node, you must link the repository where the data job is stored to the repository where Reference Data Management domains are stored. For example, suppose that your data jobs are stored in a repository called Repos 1, as shown in the next display.

You would need to link Repos 1 to the repository where Reference Data Management domains are stored. Perform the following steps:

  1. Identify or create a DSN connection that will connect to the Reference Data Management repository. The next display shows an example connection named RDM_Repos_Connx. For more information about DSNs, see Maintaining Data Connections.

  2. Save credentials for the connection so that the connection will resolve in the context of a data job. To do that, right-click the connection and select Save User Credentials.
  3. The next task is to use this DSN to link to the repository where Reference Data Management domains are stored. Click the Administration riser bar.
  4. Expand the Repository Definitions folder.
  5. Right-click the repository that will contain data jobs that need access to Reference Data Management domains and domain items.
  6. Select Reference Data Options. The Reference Data Options dialog displays.
  7. Select the DSN from Step 1.
  8. If appropriate, specify a table prefix for the Reference Data Management tables. The Reference Data Options dialog might look similar to the next display.

  9. Click Test Connection to test the connection to the Reference Data Management repository. Enter any required credentials.
  10. If the connection is successful, click OK to save the connection.

You will now be able to use the Domains node or the Domain Items node in a data job. For more information, see Getting a List of Reference Data Manager Domains or Using Reference Data Manager Domain Items in a Job.
