Server Tier Requirements

SAS High-Performance Risk Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS High-Performance Risk Server includes two SAS/ACCESS Engines of choice. For deployments that use a third-party appliance for co-located storage, one of the engines is for accessing the co-located data.

SAS High-Performance Risk Server also includes three SAS Metadata Bridges of choice.

 

Note: SAS LASR Analytic Server is supported for distributed deployments only.

SAS Visual Analytics Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS Visual Analytics Server is available on Windows for x64 for non-distributed mode only.

SAS Visual Analytics Server includes SAS/ACCESS Inerface to Greenplum or SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata or a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice if using Hadoop.

SAS Laser Analytic Server (Distributed) on Linux for x64

SAS Products installed to this machine:
  • SAS High-Performance Deployment for Hadoop 2.1
  • SAS High-Performance Node Installation 2.1
Supported Environments:
  • Oracle Linux 6.1 (64-bit version) on the x64 chip family
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 (64-bit version) on the x64 chip family
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise System 11 (64-bit version) on the x64 chip family

Note: When Hadoop is used for storage, SAS LASR Analytic Server supports only the EXT3 and EXT4 file systems.

SAS High-Performance Analytics Grid Installation and SAS High-Performance Management Console will not run properly if Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux) is enabled. Ensure that SELinux is disabled on all machines where these two products  are to be installed.

SAS High-Performance Deployment for Hadoop 1.6 is provided for co-located data storage. SAS Visual Analytics 6.1 also supports the following options, with procurement and installation by the customer:

  • Cloudera CDH 4.1
  • EMC Greenplum Data Computing Appliance
  • Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance

SAS Data Integration Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS Data Integration Server includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice. It also includes three SAS Metadata Bridges of choice.

DataFlux Event Stream Processing Engine is optional and separately licensed.

SAS High-Performance Risk has specific integration with this product's live data feed interface.

SAS Metadata Server

Please select a target environment:
SAS recommends that you deploy SAS Metadata Server on a 64-bit host system. The SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded and multi-core server hardware (typically quad core or higher) is recommended. A dedicated machine for the SAS Metadata Server is recommended to simplify tuning, management, and diagnostics, but is not required. The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8GB of RAM is sufficient for most large deployments. 4GB of RAM is sufficient for many deployments and should be considered a minimum unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
