Uninstalling a Previous Product Release

About Uninstalling a SAS Product

After you validate your upgrade, you can uninstall the previous versions of the upgraded SAS products. For more information about how to install SAS products, see the appropriate topic for your operating environment.
If you previously installed SAS BI Dashboard 4.2, the SAS Information Delivery Portal 4.2, or SAS Web Report Studio 4.2, you must manually remove the EAR files for the 4.2 release from the SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Web/Staging/Backup directory.

Windows Environments

To uninstall a SAS product from a Windows machine:
  1. Verify that you are logged on as the SAS Installer user (the user account that was used to install the SAS software) or as the Administrator (or a user in the Administrators group).
  2. Open the Control Panel by selecting Startthen selectSettingsthen selectControl Panel.
  3. Open the Add or Remove Programs window.
  4. Remove the previous version of the SAS products, and close the Add or Remove Programs window and the Control Panel.
  5. Remove the installation directory for the previous releases of the upgraded SAS products.
For example, if you have SAS Web Report Studio 4.2 and SAS Web Report Studio 4.3 on your machine, the directory for the 4.2 release can be removed. An example of a 4.2 directory is C:\Program Files\SAS\SASWebReportStudio\4.2.
    CAUTION:

  2. Verify that you are logged on as the SAS Installer user (the user account that was used to install the SAS software).
  3. Remove the installation directory for the previous releases of the upgraded SAS products. At a UNIX prompt, execute the rm -rf command at the top level of the installation directory for the previous release. Do not cd to this directory before executing the command.
For example, if you have SAS Web Report Studio 4.2 and SAS Web Report Studio 4.3 on your machine, the directory for the 4.2 release can be removed with the rm -rf command.
    CAUTION:
Do not remove the 4.3 directory or the SAS installation directory. Otherwise, your deployment will become invalid.
