About the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office |
In SAS 9.2, there have been two releases of the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office. The release that you are upgrading to at your site depends on when you placed your order. Review your Software Order E-mail to determine which release of the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office is in your order. Then review the topic for the 4.2 or 4.3 release.
SAS Add-In 4.2 for Microsoft Office |
The following considerations apply to SAS Add-In 4.2 for Microsoft Office customers who have used the SAS Add-In 2.1 for Microsoft Office or earlier releases.
Because the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office is used by a variety of people and groups within an organization, your administrator might choose to restrict the menu items and functionality that users can access. By default, the SAS add-in ships with several default roles. These roles manage the availability of application features, called capabilities.
By using SAS Management Console, your administrator for the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office can modify these roles and specify the capabilities that are available to users at your site. For information about the roles and capabilities in the SAS add-in, see "Administering the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office" in SAS Intelligence Platform: Desktop Application Administration Guide.
If you have a Microsoft Office document that contains SAS content that was generated using the 2.1 release of the SAS add-in, then you can open this document by using the SAS Add-In 4.2 for Microsoft Office. When you refresh an item in the document, the SAS content from the 2.1 release is automatically converted to the 4.2 format. After the content is refreshed using the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, you cannot refresh the data by using the 2.1 release of the SAS add-in.
If you need to migrate multiple files or you need to remap references to metadata objects (such as servers, libraries, information maps, and stored processes), then you can use the Migration Wizard.
For more information about the 4.2 release, see the Help for the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office.
SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office |
The SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office includes integration with Microsoft Outlook, a new OLAP Viewer, and the ability to edit SAS data sources in Microsoft Excel.
The following considerations apply to the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office customers who have used the SAS Add-In 2.1 for Microsoft Office or earlier releases. If you are upgrading from the 4.2 release, see the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office topic in Planning for Maintenance Releases and Product Upgrades for SAS 9.2 at http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/whatsdiff/63928/HTML/default/amo43.htm.
If you have a Microsoft Office document that contains SAS content that was generated using the 2.1 or the 4.2 release of the SAS add-in, then you can open this document by using the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office.
If you need to migrate multiple files or you need to remap references to metadata objects (such as servers, libraries, information maps, and stored processes), then you can use the Migration Wizard.
When you refresh an item in the document, the SAS content from the 2.1 release is automatically converted to the 4.3 format. After the content is refreshed using the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office, you cannot refresh the content by using the 2.1 release of the SAS add-in.
Content that was generated in the 2.1 release must be refreshed before you can use the new restore content functionality in the 4.3 release.
In the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office, you can open reports that were generated by SAS Web Report Studio. You must have SAS Web Report Studio 4.3 installed to open prompted reports in the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office. For more information, see http://support.sas.com/kb/40/386.html.
For more information about the 4.3 release, see the Help for the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office.
