For date, time, and
datetime data items, you can derive a hierarchy automatically. To
derive a hierarchy, right-click on a date, time, or datetime data
item in the
Data pane, and then select one
of the following values:
Create Date Hierarchy
creates a hierarchy
with levels for year, quarter, month, and day. Depending on the format
of the data item, some of the levels might not be created.
Create Date and Time Hierarchy
creates a hierarchy
with levels for year, quarter, month, day, hour, minute, and second.
Depending on the format of the data item, some of the levels might
not be created.
Create Time Hierarchy
creates a hierarchy
with levels for hour, minute, and second. Depending on the format
of the data item, some of the levels might not be created.
New calculated items
are created for each level in the hierarchy. By default, the new calculated
items are hidden in the
Data pane. If you
delete a derived hierarchy, then a window appears. The window enables
you to delete the calculated items that are associated with the hierarchy.
