The data preparation
interface can be used to read source tables from third-party vendor
databases and to write tables to them as well. The
SAS/ACCESS Interface
products provide this feature. Be aware that the
SAS/ACCESS Interface
products do not support creating views. On the
Data Output page
of a prepare data job, you can select
View when
the output library is a DBMS library, but it results in an error.
When writing to tables
on the
Data Output page of a prepare data
job, the data preparation software writes the table to the database
and then updates the metadata for the table. The update is performed
with the METALIB procedure. In order for the metadata update to succeed,
the user account that is performing the action must have a stored
login in metadata.
