After a foreign file has been
transferred across the network to the target computer, and if the
target computer runs SAS 8 or later, the target computer can read
and write the SAS file. A target computer can transparently access
a foreign file for reading or writing, but not for updating the files.
You can read and write,
but you cannot update the files.
