Recode Ranges of Values

This method of recoding enables you to assign values of the new variable to ranges of the old variable.

This method is applicable only to numeric variables (although the new variable can be either character or numeric), and it is most appropriate for recoding continuous variables.

For example, this method could be used to assign the values 'low', 'medium', and 'high' to a grouping variable based on ranges of some measure of blood chemistry.
