Stopping Processes
When you are using the Jobs window,
you have a few options for stopping processes:

Select a job, right-click, and select Kill Job or Kill all jobs with user userid

Select Job Menu
Kill Old Processes and then specify a threshold in days for identifying
old processes.
When you are viewing
ranks, you can right-click on a rank and the menu includes Kill
Rank.
All these actions send
the UNIX command
kill -2 to
the processes. This gives the process a chance to exit gracefully.
If the processes have not stopped in five seconds, then a kill
-9 signal is sent. Users are not notified of
a shutdown, and in-memory tables are unloaded as the server stops.
If you have sudo privilege,
then you can kill other users’ processes.
Note: It is preferable to stop
a server with the TERM option to the LASR procedure, or with the SERVERTERM
statement in the IMSTAT or VASMP procedures.
