Calculate New Data Items by Using the Percent of Total Dialog Box

Create a Percentage Data Item

To create a new data item based on a percentage:
  1. Select Datathen selectPercent of Total from the main menu bar.
  2. In the For measure drop-down list, select the measure (or measure column) that the new percentage is based on.
  3. (OLAP data only) In the Show percent of drop-down list, select the total that the new percentage is based on:
    Total Types
    Grand Total
    specifies the total for all values of the selected measure.
    Row Total
    specifies the row total for the selected measure.
    Row Subtotal
    specifies the subtotals for each row, for the selected measure.
    Column Total
    specifies the column total for the selected measure.
    Column Subtotal
    specifies the subtotals for each column, for the selected measure.
  4. In the Label field, enter a name for the new data item.
  5. Click Add. The new data item appears in the bottom pane.
    Note: You cannot create two data items that have the same values for For measure and Show percent of.
  6. Click OK to apply your changes and return to the main Visual Data Explorer page.

Remove a Percentage Data Item

To remove a percentage data item permanently:
  1. Select Datathen selectPercent of Total from the main menu bar.
  2. Select the data item that you want to remove from the bottom pane, and then click Remove.
  3. Click OK to apply your changes and return to the main Visual Data Explorer page.
Note: You can also remove a percentage data item from the query without deleting it permanently. For more information, see Modifying the Query.
