Add a Column to a Domain

Problem

You want to create a column in a domain.

Solution

Use the column properties dialog box.

Tasks

To add a column to a domain, complete the following steps:
  1. In the Folders tree, right-click on a domain, and select Properties. The Properties dialog box appears.
    Note: Property values cannot contain double quotation marks.
  2. Click the Columns tab. The domain columns are listed.
  3. Click the New Column icon Icon: New column. A new entry appears as the last row of the columns table.
  4. Enter a name and description for the column. Edit the default column characteristics if necessary.
  5. Right-click on the new column, and select Properties. The column properties dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Notes tab to add general information about your domain column.
  7. Select the Extended Attributes tab to add metadata properties for the domain column. This step is optional.
  8. Select the Clinical Column tab to change properties for your domain column. The Properties table enables you to enter text and select values from lists depending on the property definition.
    Note: You might not be able to edit some property values.
  9. Click OK to save the changes and exit the column properties dialog box.
  10. Click OK to save the changes and exit the Properties dialog box.
