In addition to performing regular full backups, it might
be appropriate in certain situations to make backups of specific SAS
folders that are used to organize user-created SAS content. To perform
selective backups and restores of objects in these folders (as well
as physical files associated with these objects), you can use the
following tools:
-
the Export SAS Package and Import
SAS Package wizards, which are available in the
Folders tab
of SAS Management Console. The same wizards are also available in
SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS OLAP Cube Studio.
-
the batch export tool and the batch
import tool, which enable you to perform exports and imports on a
scheduled or repeatable basis. These tools provide most of the same
capabilities as the Export SAS Package and Import SAS Package wizards.
The following are examples
of situations in which you might want to back up individual folders:
-
If you are creating new content
(for example, new information maps and new reports) in a development
environment, you might want to periodically back up the folders and
associated physical files that contain this content.
-
If you are about to import new
content (for example, new information maps, stored processes, and
reports) into production folders, you might want to first back up
the current contents of the production folders and their associated
physical files.
