Managing Metadata Server Performance |
If your metadata server is installed in a 32-bit Windows host, then you should be aware of the 2GB per-process address limit on these machines. The following 32-bit Windows hosts support a 4GT RAM Tuning feature that enables you to increase the per-process address limit to 3GB:
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server, Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition
The following is an example of a boot.ini file that specifies a 3GB address limit:
[boot loader] timeout=5 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /3GB
