Administering SAS Enterprise Miner

Administering Connection Profiles and Server Connections in SAS Enterprise Miner

After you install the SAS Enterprise Miner desktop application, users need to define one or more connection profiles. The connection profiles connect to SAS Metadata Servers, where permissions determine the users' access to the servers and data sources that are defined in metadata.

To open the Connections window, click on the connections link at the bottom of the SAS Enterprise Miner application. In the Connections window, select Profiles to select an active connection profile, or add, modify, or delete connection profiles.

Users who do not want to connect to the SAS Metadata Server can select <do not use a profile> and select Set Active. In this mode of operation, the user runs SAS Enterprise Miner in a single-machine configuration.

To specify a SAS Workspace Server to run the SAS programs that are specified by the Java desktop application, open the Connections window and select Servers. The Servers pane displays a list of available servers, including the local server if you opt to see it. The server display depends on the selected connection profile.
