Introduction to Query and Reporting

This chapter introduces Query and Reporting, a menu-driven interface that is part of SAS/ASSIST software. You use this interface to query and report on both SAS data and DB2 data from SAS. Query and Reporting (Q & R) consists of these windows:

• Query window, which includes an intelligent Query Manager

• SQL Editor window

• Report Engine window

• Result Manager window

• Setup window.

Note:   The Setup window is titled Query and Reporting: Setup when you access it through Query and Reporting. It is titled Setup when you access it from the WorkPlace menu or a task window. The two Setup windows contain different options.  

The Report Engine and the Result Manager are discussed elsewhere in this document and in Getting Started with SAS/ASSIST. This chapter and the next chapter describe the capabilities of the other windows.
