Understanding SAS/EIS Metadata Attributes |
In the SAS/EIS metabase
facility, an attribute is a characteristic of a registered SAS
table or a SAS table column. You can associate different values with each
attribute. Some attributes already exist in traditional SAS tables. For example,
the length of a column and whether a column is character or numeric are default
attributes of traditional SAS tables.
Extended attributes, which exist only within SAS/EIS software,
are characteristics that you associate with registered SAS tables or SAS table
columns in a repository. Some extended attributes determine whether data is
available to applications in the development environment. For example, to
create an application using the Comparison Report, Expanding Report, or Grouped
Bar Chart objects (among others), you must register a table with the HIERARCH
attribute.
