Audience

This book is a second edition of the AppDev Studio 4.4 Eclipse Plug-ins: Migration Guide, and has been updated to cover the first maintenance release for AppDev Studio 4.4. Differences between the initial release of AppDev Studio 4.4 and the first maintenance release for AppDev Studio 4.4 are noted throughout.

This book is for users who are migrating SAS AppDev Studio 3.41 projects to SAS AppDev Studio 4.4.

Because projects created in AppDev Studio use the SAS JAR files, an AppDev Studio project must match the SAS installation on which it will be run. This means that projects from AppDev Studio 3.41 must be upgraded to work with AppDev Studio 4.4 and SAS 9.4. It also means that projects created in SAS AppDev Studio 4.4 must run against SAS 9.4, and, if you are running AppDev Studio 4.4 projects against the first maintenance release for SAS 9.4, you must upgrade the AppDev Studio projects to match.

You only need to apply maintenance to a SAS AppDev Studio 4.4 project if you are developing for the first maintenance release for SAS 9.4.

Requirements

SAS 9.4

AppDev Studio 4.4 works with SAS 9.4.

Projects imported from SAS AppDev Studio 3.41 must be upgraded to use the SAS 9.4 JAR files before development of those projects can continue. Likewise, before developing AppDev Studio 4.4 projects against the first maintenance release for SAS 9.4, you must upgrade those projects.

Eclipse 4.2.x and the Eclipse Web Tools Platform 3.4.x

SAS AppDev Studio 4.4 is officially supported on Eclipse 4.2.x and the Eclipse Web Tools Platform 3.4.x. However, the SAS AppDev Studio Eclipse Configuration Tool does not enforce these requirements, and allows you to connect to older and newer versions of Eclipse and the Web Tools Platform.

Tomcat

SAS AppDev Studio 4.4 now uses Tomcat 7. Tomcat 7.0.30 is the recommended minimum version.
