• Public Access to US EPA Data: Interactive Web Maps using New Version 8 Graphical Applets:

  The U.S. EPA office of Air Quality Planning and Standards develops, enhances and maintains the world's largest air pollution database: the Aerometric Information Retrieval System (AIRS). Until recently, access to the AIRS database and its SAS enabled graphics utilities was only open to a limited number of users on the EPA mainframe.

  For the past two years, EPA's Research Triangle Park-based Information Transfer Group and its Advanced Data Delivery Systems Team have been re-engineering components of the AIRS Graphics System to allow public access through the Internet. Using a web browser, JavaScript, HTML and SAS/IntrNet software, users can now subset the SAS data, and display custom GMAP output in the browsers. This demo will explore the next step in the evolution of this system -- that of bringing increased interactivity and the ability to drill down on the resulting map images in the browser. New Mapping and Charting applets available with the Output Deliver System (ODS) in Version 8 of the SAS System will be explained using working examples.

  Note: This code will not run standalone and requires data from the EPA.

• Interactive Graphics Customizations Using Client-side Controls:

  This demo gives a brief overview of using ODS to generate client-side ActiveX and Java graphs and maps. We will show how the web page graphs that were created can be customized by the the person viewing them.
