Dear Reader,

"You want answers?"
"I think I'm entitled to them."
"You want answers?"
"I want the truth!"

If you’re like me, a fan of the movie A Few Good Men, you probably recognize the dialogue above as the climactic courtroom exchange between Tom Cruise's character, Navy lawyer Daniel Kaffee, and Colonel Nathan Jessup, played by Jack Nicholson.

Last month, SAS Education introduced SAS Training Post blog site followers to our newest regular contributor, Miss SAS Answers. I couldn't help but think of the Cruise/Nicholson exchange when I thought about how I was going to introduce Miss SAS Answers to you, our SAS Training Report subscribers. You see, when it comes to writing efficient SAS code, we know you have questions; Miss SAS Answers is here to give you those answers.

The secret identity of Miss SAS Answers, a character “born” in 2006 as a clever idea for a SAS Global Forum paper, is longtime SAS instructor Linda Jolley. Linda holds both Base and Advanced SAS Programming certifications, has more than 3 decades of programming experience (including 15 years as a SAS instructor), and hasn’t met a foundation SAS programming dilemma she couldn’t solve. (Check out some of her past papers  – SAS® Global Forum 2007: A Guide to SAS® Efficiency;  SAS® Global Forum 2009: A Guide to Efficient PROC SQL Coding; and SAS® Global Forum 2010: A Guide to Sorting Your Data.)

The truth, and we think you can handle it, is that as a SAS user you have at your disposal the most powerful analytical software in the world. Whether it’s through formal training, like an in-person classroom or Live Web class, or through informal channels, such as our video portalFacebook page or Training Post blog, SAS Education can help you become the best user possible. Miss SAS Answers is our latest resource to help you reach your goals.

As a regular contributor to the SAS Training Post blog, Miss SAS Answers stands ready to answer your SAS programming questions, offering one or more ways to solve the coding problem you pose. While she will concentrate on Foundation (Base) SAS, she's not limited to that domain.

So if you haven't yet subscribed to our Training Post Blog, do it today. And start sending your programming questions Miss SAS Answers' way. (To submit a question, visit http://blogs.sas.com/sastraining/ and leave your question in the comments field of any Miss SAS Answers entry.)

Thanks for reading and happy programming,
Larry LaRusso
Editor, SAS Training Report
