Dear Readers -

"This `telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a practical form of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us." This was from a Western Union internal memo in 1878. Darryl F. Zanuck, head of 20th Century-Fox, made similar disparaging remarks about the invention of the television, and I remember my Dad telling me back in the early 90s that e-commerce was just a fad. It's humorous now to look back and see how technologies we take for granted today were considered flashes in the pan or mere toys when they first were introduced to the public.

Here at SAS and especially at SAS Publishing, we are working hard to use the latest and greatest inventions to make the lives and workload of you, our SAS users, more productive and easier. Have you "friended" us on the SAS Publishing Fan Page on Facebook to find out about the latest conference we will be attending? Do you prefer getting information on our newest titles in less than 140 characters? If so, be sure to follow us on Twitter. SAS Press' Shelly Goodin is constantly adding new podcasts where SAS Press authors discuss details and concepts demonstrated in their books. Keep up with our social media guru, Kirsten Hamstra, as she and other industry experts blog on OpenMic about everything from technical writing tips to helpful ideas on getting your SAS certification. As the newest social media tool comes out, count on us to find ways to bring the news, information, and latest ideas directly to you!

Feel free to let us know other ways that we can help you find the information and news that you need. As always, we appreciate you subscribing to SAS Publishing News.
