Dear Readers -
2009 is drawing to a close and SAS Publishing is working hard to end the year on a high note. This month we have two new podcasts with SAS Press authors. In December, we are reanimating our Webinar series, beginning with Cynthia Zender and Michele Burlew. Be sure to check out the newest discussion forum - SAS Web Report Studio, just launched last Friday.
SAS headquarters in Cary, NC will be closed Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will re-open on Monday, November 30th.
Feel free to let us know other ways that we can help you find the information and news that you are looking for. And as always, thanks for being a subscriber.
Regards -

Radical Action for Radical Times: Expert Advice for Creating Business Opportunity in Good or Bad Economic Times
By Jonathan Hornby
The financial crisis that began in 2008 had many organizations wondering how they would survive, let alone grow. As organizations began to adapt, Jonathan Hornby was concerned many would do the wrong things. He brought together ten respected thought leaders to discuss options via a series of Webcasts. Each person's ideas built on the previous to deliver a comprehensive strategy that could help any organization succeed, regardless of the state of the economy.
Not content with four hours of video, Jonathan interviewed each speaker to extract more expert knowledge and advice. That knowledge is contained within this book. 156pp.

The Data Asset: How Smart Companies Govern Their Data for Business Success
By Tony Fisher
Organizations set their business strategies and direction based on information that is available to executives. Certain critical assets are considered in business planning, but often data is overlooked by executives, boards of directors, or strategic planners. It is difficult for the IT and business groups to get sponsorship, funding, and resources allocated to managing data. Tony Fisher's The Data Asset: How Smart Companies Govern Their Data for Business Success provides guidance not only for building the business case for data quality and data governance but also for developing methodologies and processes that enable organizations to better treat their data as a strategic asset. 224pp.

SAS® Enterprise Miner™ 6.1: Single-User Installation Guide »
Earlier this year, SAS released a new version of SAS Enterprise Miner (Version 6.1). Among the many new features for the product is a streamlined way to perform a single-user installation by using the SAS® Deployment Wizard, which is documented in the SAS Enterprise Miner 6.1: Single-User Installation Guide.
A single-user installation simplifies the user account requirements typically seen in a multi-user deployment. After the deployment is complete, you use the same user account to run SAS Enterprise Miner and any other SAS client. For the SAS Unrestricted User and the SAS Trusted User accounts, the deployment wizard reuses the same password that you specify when you deploy SAS Enterprise Miner.
